I'm really not trying to start an argument or anything, I'm just confused why this request would be made of a character owned and copyrighted by a large corporation? It feels...awkward.

Because this is a very specific version of the character drawn for one person, and using someone else's character - be it derivative or not - is rude.

Maybe it's awkward, but I felt it was a simple request to put out there.

Well I wish you/the commissioner luck. Once something gets posted online it seems to be fair game. (and the people who would do so anyway would probably ignore the request) especially with a super popular franchise.

You're correct. As someone who's worked with and on copyrights, I feel this would definitely fall under the classification of a derivative work with enough differences from the two Hasbro characters (the MLP pony and the Equestria Girls human-like versions) that it would actually qualify for its own copyright. I think your request is quite proper and reasonable.

Except in those cases there are multiple pokemon or digimon that have the same physical appearance. This is an interpretation of a specific character where the poke/digi thing is closer to a species.

Immelmann specifically made this request because he's my friend, and I'm not exactly his usual clientele.

(ex. I'm not a furry or so I keep telling myself, my public face is indeed rather public, I'm not exactly into most of the fetishes he draws and would rather my personal life not get connected to that if I ended up posting the picture myself somewhere, though I sure as hell wasn't gonna ask him to not post this on his accounts. It's a lovely image and amazingly well done, as is all his art.)

That request is less "OMG HER OC SOOPER ORIGINAL PLS DUNT STEEL" and more "So, my friend turned herself into rainbow dash, and I drew her as a horse. Don't jack off to her guys, that's not cool"

Well, it was more of.....no, yeah, that's pretty much how it happened. One day I hated horses, the next I'm busy turning myself into rainbow freakin dash.

It's the logo for a real world band, and it allegedly says "Shortbus Pileup".
So, that's a real logo. The ones in the background are fictional ones I've made and used throughout the years.
