I needed a few examples for a new type of commission I plan to offer this year at Rainfurrest - colored pencil portraits. I got the idea working on this piece - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17697288/
Working with a colored pencil has its advantages and disadvantages, but one of the biggest advantages is a strictly physical one. My hands wear out at conventions, and in order to avoid being in pain all weekend, I've had to limit the amount of commissions I've been able to take. Colored pencil requires a lighter touch, which saves my hands.
Disadvantage is obvious. It's very hard (borderline impossible) to erase fully. So very little margin for error. The thing is, with a looser touch, a few rough lines here and there kind of add to the aesthetic. Mind you, that's imho. I'm sure some folks would disagree :P
These commissions are also sort of strange in that they're at a mid-way mark for size. Normally, I (and most other artists I know) offer two basic sizes for work at cons - badges, and full-size pieces. It takes me nearly 2 hours to do even a pencil badge, and I don't like charging fifty bucks for that. But sketches can take me up to four, and I have to under-price them to sell them at all.
These are about 5 x 7 inches, so sort of in the middle. Still small enough to use for a badge if you'd like, but also large enough to pop into a portfolio. I feel like people will more get their money's worth, but I've never tried offering these before, so we'll see!
I am not taking pre-orders for these, but I'll try to space out how many I take throughout the con, so as many people as possible will have a chance to get one if they want one. I'll be charging $60 for them, which I hope most people will think is fair.

It looks really good and very pretty as a traditional way.
I'm currently looking at pictures in a different way since i saw some tutorials and i find stuff not that much complicated now.
Question is: Do you draw in a white canvas and then just draw every single detail on it?, or you just draw fur lines and stuff?

Just to clarify, is this type of commission being offered at Rainfurrest along with other types of commissions or is this the only type of commission you're offering at the con? I ask because I was wondering if you're offering full body sketches like you did at TFF. Either way, i'll be stopping by your table!
