Boost: Cole’s semblance, the result of his extra training to wield his over engineered weaponry, comes in two stages. The first, which is always active, allows for his Aura to recharge energy at roughly twice the rate of other hunters of equal ability. The second stage doubles THAT rate (4x) as well as increases his strength and endurance. When the second stage is active, his eyes glow and take on an animalistic appearance, and the colors of his clothing and gear seem more vibrant.
Chameleon Dust: Infused through his armor and shield, this allows him to blend into his surroundings to a higher degree than normal. (note, this does NOT afford him invisibility) while the patterns will alter as he moves, the longer he remains still, the better the camouflage becomes until he is indistinguishable from the background behind him.
Fang: Cole’s Sword. It contains four Dust Crystals within the hilt, allowing for alternate effects depending upon which he has active. However, Cole is no Dust Mage, and as such is limited to generating effects through physical contact. As a result, his strikes often have added elemental effects, depending on what combinations of the crystals he invokes during the fight. Lastly, he can also use these to “upgrade” the firepower of his shields gun, so long as the sword is sheathed in its place within the shield.

Claw: Cole’s Shield, this is a much larger version of the “collapsible shield/scabbard” as modeled by Jaune Arc’s Croaka Mores. Large enough that when in its storage/scabbard form it must be worn across the back rather than at the hip, when deployed, it is fully large enough for Cole to completely hide behind it, or use it to protect at least one other person in addition to himself (they have managed to fit the entire team behind it at one time, but that wasn’t very pretty. The secondary reason for the size of the shield is the integrated weaponry. Mounted within/underneath (depending on how you want to look at it) is a twin .50 caliber support/assault machine gun, with a pair of “sidecar” ammunition bins. While the mechanics of the weapon itself have been integrated into the shield in such a way as to minimize the guns bulk, the ammunition requirements are another story entirely. Since there is no way to minimize them, they have been integrated so that when the shield is worn, the bins rest comfortably on either side of the arm, acting as a part of the “clamp” that keeps it in place.
Running down the center of the shield, is the integrated scabbard for the sword.
Overcharge: when the sword is sheathed, it is possible for Cole to access the dust crystals for use with the shields gun. While that can give him a variety of added effects to his shots, the most destructive is what he calls the Dust Cannon, where he uses all of his available Dust types at once, effectively supercharging any shots fired while this is in effect.
Weaknesses: loss of his glasses severely impairs his combat abilities (aiming is no longer possible, reducing him to “spray and pray” tactics until he can see clearly again). Loss of his temper can also be an issue, but to a much lesser degree. Occasionally has bouts of overconfidence if he, or his team, have not been sufficiently challenged recently. (a good smacking down by an instructor generally corrects this issue, if it doesn’t bite him in the tail sooner.) Using Overcharge too often will rapidly burn through his dust crystals, greatly reducing his combat effectiveness.
Background Info:
Born in Mistral, Cole is the child of a human Dust Merchant and a Faunus Engineer. While his father ran the Dust shop, his mother plied her trade in the adjoining business, where she is widely known as “The Weaponeer” due to her abilities to create equipment for Hunters who need something “more” but are unable to push their designs beyond what they currently have.
Growing up in this environment would give a young man thoughts enough of becoming a hunter, but when you add in a gruff but lovable uncle who happens to be a Huntsman, and is more than willing to share his adventures with family, well it’s easy to see why he chose his path to begin with.
Enrolled in the local Hunter School when he was of age, he quickly set about giving it his all, including getting his mothers input when it came time to design and forge his own personal weapons and equipment. She gladly gave him anything he required to craft what he had designed, chuckling to herself the entire time because he had yet to realize that while he had done a superb job in the design and forging, he had neglected to take note of one important detail.
He wasn’t yet strong enough to wield them.
Showing a surprising maturity for his age, he requested, and was given, an additional year at his current school to build his body to where it would allow him to use his equipment the way he had designed it to be used.
Once he was ready to continue with the remainder of the studies, he submitted his applications to the advanced academies, jumping at the opportunity when Beacon accepted him.
In the wake of the recent Dust thefts, there has been a noted lack of fatalities in most cases, however one of those exceptions is of special import to Cole, as his Uncle, the Huntsman, was killed. As a result, news of further robberies, or related incidents, are of great importance to him, and he’s asked his team to help him find any scraps of information they can.
It’s only a matter of time before the current situations around the school expand to the point where CATT will be playing a part. Probably sooner rather than later.
Personality:
Generally keeps to himself/his group, and when with the later, is quite animated and easy going, for the most part. He mostly keeps quiet, unless he has something to add, even if that something tends to be a sarcastic or smartass remark. Bullies, and pointless violence tick him off no end, and while he will attempt to handle things “within the system” he’s not above taking a personal hand in making sure a lesson hits home.
Physical Appearance: long black hair, kept pulled back in a tail, blue eyes, glasses, pale skin. Wears an armored black leather jacket (visible metal panels on shoulders and upper back. Additional plating concealed on the inside) over a neon blue hoodie, with faded blue jeans (also with visible, obviously additional, armor panels on upper thighs/hips). Normally wears reinforced toe (metal plate wraps around the toe) combat style boots.
His “symbol” is my board avatar, black with blue eyes. worn on the back of his jacket
