i don't know why you have it up for bid if you refuse to sell it for under 50 set starting bid to 50 instead of five then otherwise its really not that fair to those who participate but best of luck to ya still an awesome character and im sure someone will buy it eventually so good luck ^.^
When you put something up with rules and people follow these rules and are ready to pay for it, you can't just go and say "nvm man I changed my mind", that's not how it works. That isn't changed by him being famous on a furry website.
He can totally sell it for 1000 USD if he so wishes to, but then he needs to make that CLEAR before putting it up. That's common sense.

You have a point, and I'm not disagreeing with you on your multiple points.
However, I would think by now anyone whose bidding on Rudragon adopts knows how this whole thing works. Almost no one finds it disagreeable, and on top of that, sometimes people just aren't on or paying attention during a time of an adoptable and who really wants little money when they should've gotten a lot more over such circumstances.
Large starting bids definitely cause discouragement too. Going through the ifs/and's/buts and/or really not much existent rules could take a year, but in the end, anyone selling has the right to deny giving it to someone for any reason. If people disagree with it, then they just...do.

I'm glad you see my point, and I can definitely see yours too.
However I just found this particular case to be a really bad example of "artist can deny commission/selling their content to a particular person".
You always see the rule "only serious bids!", so people make sure to actually want it and have the money at hand. It's seen as shitty to just be like "nah nevermind I didnt want it :)" after an auction ended, so I think it's also shitty when the artist goes "nevermind I don't want to sell it for that price :)".
I can understand being discouraged about getting less than you hoped, but that's something you need to deal with as an artist I think. It doesn't always go as you hope, tough shit, you know? Keep trying. Even if more people might be online later, people who are on NOW also deserve a chance, cheating them out of it is unnecessary.
I still think he really should start bids at what he expects as minimum, I just see it as lying to the bidders and it's simply rude and unprofessional. Also his reaction of "guess the adopt was a dud" just seemed childish and like saying "lmao it sucked anyway", which really is an insult to himself and everybody who bid.
On a side note, I also had a few people note me that they agree with me but were too afraid to comment in fear of being blocked. :/ So I think it's really a bigger problem than it seems like, worsened by his fame.
Anyway, I can understand if you still disagree, I just wanted to expand on those points.

Yeah, I mean, your points are loud and clear (and no offense, but seem to getting louder). Now I feel like I'm making trouble getting these near text walls up on here. (Sorry Ru).
A point that should be made, is that it's become really obvious that some really want someone to love and care for your there adopts. And thus, would rather keep them if not bought for a good price. Ru's adopts are not done on a base, all look the same, etc. Ok, some bare close resemblance, but few do, and that's just gonna happen when it's the same artist. This one bares zero resemblance to pretty much any of them. I mean I would've expected a autobuy really quickly on this one. If I didn't have a disliking for bears as a species (in real life, nothing furry related) I probably would've at least bid higher by now.
If I had not come along and grabbed another one in the distant past somewhat, I would've never wanted it to have been sold for $50 (it was much more elaborate than this one thus the price was much different too).
A TOS would be the resolve, basically stating what I have: "If you don't like it, don't bid," just in case someone is unaware. You disagree, ok. I honestly can't say I will agree or disagree, because I don't think it's up to anyone but Ru. I wouldn't care if he was a beginning artist with 10 pieces of art in his gallery or 9,000, that kind of idea/popfur thing (it's whatever you want to call it really) is irrelevant to me.
Credit must be given for saying something though, I will say. That said, I see no reason why name calling came into this "rude" "unprofessional" "shitty" i'm not even stating the artist's names out there who are all that, and Ru is so far away from that kinda talk.
I wasn't gonna reply but the last time a back and forth discussion over what an artist is doing began it only led to seeing that it's "informing" not really bad and/or a problem, and usually more good comes of it.

I don't want this to turn into an argument or shitfest either, so I'll keep my reply short so we can bring it to a peaceful end hopefully.
I agree that wanting a good home for your adopt is important - it's why I stopped making Adoptables, because I was unhappy with the Adoptable Community currently (that's a whole other topic though), but I personally felt like Ru cared less about that, more about the money. Subjective, but wasn't just my feeling.
Either way, I've shown this whole thing to a few friends (not our discussion, but what happened with RU and the adopt), as I screencapped our comments (which he hid by now). Without exception all of them agreed with me on this, so while I'm not saying there is a definite right or wrong answer to it, there's strength in both sides to this.
And, honestly, I've seen so many cases where somebody with a "famous" status in this community got away with doing bad stuff, whereas a little artist might just be torn to pieces over it. It is an existing privilege, and a lot of people (including me) are sort of sick of it. That's mostly the reason why I refused to just let it be and wanted it to be pointed out/talked about, and not ignored at least. (The notes of people telling me they agree showed me it was the right thing, too)
"Shitty" probably does take it too far, that's kind of my emotions speaking, as I did get pretty angry when I saw it. I do believe it is unprofessional; not as an insult, but as a fact. It simply is, and RU actually agreed to it. I found his attitude rude, but that's a subjective thing.
Annnnd this kind of ended up being sort of long again, I apologize.

The minimum worth definitely is up to the artist without question, I just think you should at least be honest about it.
It's nothing to start a war over, but I wish RU would at least do that, it feels kind of uncaring if he just continues as he has.
That way he'd def gets what he wants, with his current setup it's simply something he should learn to deal with imo, it was a situation brought upon himself pretty much.
A lot of people I know say a week tops is best, because a lot of people tend to forget over it if it goes so long, but it does give more people time to see it. In the end it doesn't really matter, it's up to the poster.
Also; I'm not sure why you keep emphasizing on the "Don't like it, don't bid" part. I wholeheartedly agree, though I don't see how it's relevant. I won't bid on Ru's adopts, as I don't like them personally. It sounds more like less people should bid now because of what happened, because the same thing might happen. Though I guess he'd still have more than enough to bid on his stuff.

I actually don't even consider myself a furry, on a side note. But yeah, when I strongly believe in my opinion, I'll be sure to voice it. Although I don't enjoy ill-mannered arguments and insults, I'm always happier when it can be a civil discussion, I hope that at least was also a little apparent.
I replied and only then saw this, so feel free to not reply any further, I agree. If you do reply, unless something irks me I'll leave it be as well.
