Ohh hey. I didn’t post these for a while because I got utterly sick of cross-posting them across several sites every darned day, and the having to go back and forth, fixing next-prev links. So I decided to write a small application to post them for me….which is easier said than done.

BASIC TACTICS

Big live-fire trials were this week. And methinks it’s pretty apparent that we ain’t no master sergeant shooter people.
This exercise was one of moving in a fireteam and handling contact. The idea being that you two walk along a path and will encounter the enemy (read: pop-up silhouette targets). You then neutralize them and along you go.
It’s the whole “neutralize” aspect that went down the drain. To start, me and my partner didn’t even at first notice the targets popping up (cue our instructor having to yell at us and point in the right direction). But our ability to actually hit the targets was also dreadful. There was a point where my teammate was firing on a target some 50 or so meters away (I had already run out rounds by that point) and our instructor was standing right next to him.
BANG
BANG
BANG
Yet none of the rounds hit.
BANG
BANG
I could see the instructor look at him, look at the target and then back at him, more and more agitated with every round he fired.
BANG
BANG
BANG
At which point the instructor took the rifle out of his hands, put two rounds into the target and gave it back to him practically shouting [i]“THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE GUN IS FINE.”[i/]
Indeed, supersoliders we are not.
