Experiment meant to look like a cel from an Anime :p
Thinking if I'm gonna do a comic, it'd be neat to do it this way!
After the match he was quoted saying: "I don't like using swords because when I beat someone I want them to come back - so I can beat them again."

It's an all out fighting match, fighters can use any combination of martial arts and fighting techniques do defeat their opponent. Killing another opponent is usually frowned upon but not illegal, the winner is determined when the other either falls on the floor and stays there without moving, passes out or sometimes dies.
The only weapons that are allowed are melee, but all opponents must be dressed only in the bare minimum. Technological body modification is also allowed, eg people with amputated limbs. (that often is a result of a previous match)
the tournaments were first held in 1642, in Osaka during the edo period in Japan, and was later moved to Tokyo as popularity grew. They were not open to international entry until the late 20th century. Since then they have been a driving economic force in Japan, and major companies such as the Technology and Car manufacturer Shiro Enterprises, (which rebuilt the center in the middle of Neo Tokyo Bay in 1972) regularly sponsor fighters into the arena.
Ever since the tournament began in 1642, there have been 620 deaths and 2305 major injuries. The participation and practice for the tournament is banned in most countries and seen as barbaric, but with the rising popularity of the games, recent fighters have been idolized and turned into megastars that are globally known.
It is held every year from July to December, until a grand champion is announced at the end.
