Kleo, one of my snakechildren.
Yes she's a girl.
Yes, snakes also come in "girl".
[idk, some guy was once amused that I have a "girl snake"]

Yeah, she does strike at my ankle ocassionally if she's roaming the bathroom waiting for her dinner and hides somewhere while I walk by. I still don't consider that a "bite". A strike is similar to a cat swiping with its paw. Predator sees movement + predator strikes. It's instinct.
Bites from pet snakes are very, very rare. Honestly a dog is far more dangerous. I've been bitten worse by lap dogs than any reptile.

They're all real. And no, most snakes are harmless. They just want to be left alone and they bite out of fear more than anything. Even mine get startled easily if I move too suddenly for them, and they've known me for years. ;w; They're sweet babies.
Even large snakes are so misunderstood. I knew a lady who rescued a huge burmese python that had been abused. Yet he never attempted to bite her even while she was cleaning the wounds.

Really? It actually depends on the dog breed and the pet training really. I have a Miniature Schnauzer and she is an angel, she still yaps at strangers coming in the house but she's just doing her instinct job. If you apply the right training while they are still a puppy then you should have no problem, but yes there are plenty of people who don't have a bloody clue how to look after a dog and this is when problems begin. Just watch any of Cesar Millan's shows and you'll see what I mean.
So about snakes, being somebody that's never had one, would you recommend them? Because for some reason I've always had this love towards Ball Pythons as I like snakes, I actually consider them as my favourite snakes as I think they look really cute.

Usually yes, but any dog can snap without meaning real harm. My family used to have a beagle, and all I remember is when I was very little I was alone outside with him and he bit me. I know I had a fascination with trying to climb inside his dog-coop built into the shed so it may have been a territory thing. All I know is it bled like crazy, but I never messed with anything belonging to a dog again! Then there was my aunt's little fluffy something or other who was just a downright terror to strangers.
I know general dog language now and haven't been bitten since, but I was snapped at by a neighbor's akita after the owner claimed "She's ok"! >_>
But as far as snakes go, YES, I definitely recommend ball pythons as a pet snake! If you're just starting out there's a lot of research to be done to keep them happy and healthy but I have two and I can vouch for the fact that they're as sweet as they are adorable. :} I actually plan to make some care videos soon, so I can toss you the links once they're up!
