The Dread Pirate Roberts cruises the realms of space in his starship, the Event Horizon. (No, not that Event Horizon.) Its appearance is that of a spelljammer- a magical sailing ship in space. Rest assured, it is not what it appears to be- it's a hologram illusion and a grandiose display of its captain's vanity. (Some joke that the real event horizon is the one caused by the size of his ego...)
The ship's appearance is holographic, the controls are holographic... and so is the captain. Hard-light holography. It's a lie- the real Roberts is deep inside the ship, operating everything from a VR immersion tank. Underneath the Event Horizon's disguise lies one of the fastest and most heavily armed ships around, and when all of those holograms get turned off, guess where all that extra power goes...
"Nothing escapes the Event Horizon. Nothing. Rar, har."
(Inspired by the two-sided villain cards from Sentinels of the Multiverse and by a conversation with
HollieHyena. Art by

Kirk would have been a challenge. He's more sneaky. Picard's no slouch, either, of course, but you can't hit what you can't catch, and you can't catch what you can't see. Sisko would have been dangerous, for exactly the same reason, and Janeway is obsessed enough to be threatening as well. (I'm not even going to talk about Mackenzie, who would likely be the most dangerous of them all vs Roberts...) In any case, Robert's smirk remains the same, because his ego is just that huge.
