A really fun surprise and a send-off for my trip to Rainfurrest tomorrow! I HEARD these guys before I spotted them today, hanging out next to my chicken coop/runaround. The big male there was particularly vocal, especially when I got close.
Managed to snap a few pics of them wandering around, before I let them be. My chickens didn't seem to mind the company.
You know when people say 'they make a beautiful couple'? I think that applies here :)

Mm, when I was a kid we had all kinds of critters wonder onto our property. Grouse, turkeys, deer, sparrows, swallows, mice...
My least favorite part about living in a large city? I pretty much see only pigeons, dogs, and cats. Not much variety unless I go to a zoo, but that's crowded, noisy, and, well, the animals aren't really relying on their primal instincts. Doesn't make it too interesting.

Out by us (in Michigan) we get flocks of aggressive wild turkeys that chase and attack people. No joke. There was a short period of time where it was becoming a real problem for mailmen in this one area (they kept getting attacked by turkeys and couldn't deliver their mail).
