Whew! Finally, the next page!
Get a good look at the VW while you can... this'll be the last time you see it- or at least, this one.
I'm pretty happy with the way the coloring came along on this page, though I have some mixed sentiments. I was pleased with some of the background elements such as the clouds, sea, and the muddy road in the foreground. I wasn't quite so pleased with how the city came out, though I wonder if that's because its too dark or I chose too much contrast in the colors.
Two additional interesting notes about this page- normally I carry along a sheet or two of bristol board when I start planning a page, but this time I had none, so I drew all of the artwork on the back of Page 8. Also, panel 3, in all its detail, was not nearly so ambitious at the beginning. I had no clue what to put in such a big space, opting for a pretty plain head-on shot of Fred, but when I realized that I had the chance to transition into the next page and bring this 'setting' to a close, I planned out this alternative. The kids came late- I wanted to add some life to what has been an otherwise empty-looking area.

Ok, again you attention to detail is amazing. I want to look at ever inch of this! And the highlight on the car looks splendid. I know I sound like a broken record mate but this project of yours keeps looking awesome! I know this takes alot of time but I hope you know that in my opinion its worth the effort!
Time and time again you amaze me at the level of detail you can pack into a single panel (and you've done here in multiple panels!) Nice expressions, too. And I really like how you added different elements to define the setting of the scene, such as the neighborhood kids playing.
If there's no more VW, do we get some technicals at least ?
Come to that, where is this comic set? An earlier page put us in west Africa, which is part of why I mention technicals, but I can't seem to find anything more specific. I'm not good enough to identify which former French colony we're dealing with just from the clues in the comic.
Was the gun-wielding francophone named "Leon" a nod to Jean Reno?

I plan on having technicals in the comic (especially since they're so ubiquitous and utilitarian), but most of the fighting in this issue revolves around Nouveau Cotentan's standing army, equipped with a motley of old Soviet, American, and French machines of war.
As for Leon, I wasn't intending to lampoon The Professional, I just wanted to come up with a disposable name for a character that doesn't last too long
