Bebe Guardians come with no halos, small and incomplete random nubbins of their spikes as they wait for them to grow in, and no claws - because they are young and stupid and not 100% reliable on their shifting abilities, and can't be trusted not to scratch their hand eyes out if they can't shut them consistently yet. It is just the hope that they will have mastered that by the time their claws totally grow in, but there will always be that late bloomer who jacked up one of their eyes something fierce even after.
