It seems to be some demonic experiment that didn't turn out to her satisfaction but she keeps it all the same. It'll lunge out of dark at her but appears to be unwilling or unable to harm her or visiting guests. All in all it is a very disturbing sight. Especially since it is the size of a large dog.
