Amaranth held an auction for the four spots in this picture, the four audience members who have come to take a closer look at the giant beast and the one who controls it, the small girl. The auction was a long time ago, now, at the start of this year, but I am still exceedingly happy to have been a part of the idea and the execution of it. Not only did I get to be the charmed snake, I got to write for the project. I believe that was meant to be part of the incentive to bid in the auction (though I can't imagine why that would be an incentive, haha).
I love this picture; I love the precise, minute details and the overarching theme and setting, I love the interplay of the characters, and the lighting -- and I love that I got to be a part of it, and that I got to help Nae imagine it, and got to help her with the auction, even in a small way.
And, of course, I love my poor little snake charmer girl, too. <3
The story was very fun to write, and it came easily to me, which is something that holds a lot of import. To have a story flow out of one's hands (in a manner of speaking) is just.. very significant. Other writers will know what I mean, I think.
So, hopefully there are people who are seeing this picture for the first time, now, who will go check out the story, and Amaranth. Of course, if you've been on my page AT ALL, then you've been to Ama's, I'm sure. :}===<
Anyway, thank you once more, my _perpetually engrossing trainer_, for letting me be a part of this amazing project! <333

The size difference looks even more stark here than it does normally your chest and shoulders alone in this pic look big enough to cover her entirely, course that does leave the rest of the snake to do anything else
Nae does look adorable in those more Levantine style clothing. Though i forgot how 'interesting' the ending of that story was...maybe we could see more of what happened later at some other time?

We just love the size diff. :}===<
And it's not me and Nae, exactly. It's Charmer, and Python! Hahaha (okay yes it's us, but not exactly). Also, yes, she does look adorable in that outfit.. but then, she looks cute in anything.
No matter the degree of the size-difference, I'll always have plenty of spare body to do that 'anything else' you mentioned. >:}
Thanks for the comment!

Amaranth's depiction of naga/snake is probably my favourite style.
I prefer the forward position of the head (it makes it more snake-like). Also the headshape. A lot of artists start with a human base/frame and add the snake features upon that: a sphere for the head and then attaching a muzzle to it from there.
I suppose I have a stance where characters should look like their animal species first and then be personified from that.
Anyway, back to Amaranth's art: the scale texture and pattern are so beautiful in this piece specifically. The diamond pattern scale coat looks so meticulously done here! Each scale is coloured in as part of the pattern. I know I'm focussing a lot on the naga here, but it really grabs my attention first thing. That and the background too. It's just beautiful.
Also, in the story I was expecting the tree to be a lot bigger! It gave me the impression that the snake was completely obscured within its boughs. Just looks like a lot of python to hide from this picture!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how Ama draws snakes, it's why I commissioned her in the first place, thanks to how she drew her own [were]snake character back in the day, not to mention one of her pictures of the weresnake, Stuart, TFing from human to snake having caught my attention in a major way. [You won't find that art on her gallery currently, though, in case you're tempted to go look].
Yes, she's very good at taking animal shapes and then personifying them, rather than adding superficial animal traits to human frames.
Also, YEAH, I think this picture marked sort of a breakthrough on a scale texture technique she developed. In fact, I believe this picture here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15510872/ was where the new-and-improved scale texture technique of which I speak was first attempted, before it was deployed here, in the Snake+Charmer picture, to even greater effect! :}===<
And her background work is always stellar. <3
The tree, I think, is perhaps bigger above the frame of the picture. Or maybe I was just taking some liberties with the story/art 'conversion' so to speak.
And, thanks for the fave on this picture now as well!
