What's Norman-Rockwell, though?
And I'd soooo want to see some D&D story someday explore how a Pit Fiend has to work his way back up from Lemure to his old position upon death.... Would be funny! Sadly Pathfinder doesn't use this mechanic, it seems, in their universe if a summoned fiend is killed on the material plane, they are gone for good.
