Chiptune - Metroid Fusion - Nightmare (VRC6)
Whipped this up in an hour or two. Trying to get back into music again.
I'm not a huge fan of Metroid Fusion's music, but it had a few really good tracks, and this was one of them. Of course, it fit best in the context it was heard, and it was a shame on the developers of Metroid Other M for not arranging this music for Nightmare's appearance in that game.
Sequenced in FamiTracker using the Konami VRC6 sound chip.
When I designed the periodic "roar" in this arrangement, I made use of all eight VRC6 square wave pulse widths to create the "sharpening" sound effect. The rest was fairly straightforward, and I'm getting a better hang of using the triangle wave for "thud" percussion.
