Realizing that a character doesn't HAVE to be white really is an eye opening experience. I know Baby Doll was based off of Shirley Temple, but other than that... race doesn't really factor in with her backstory. So bam, new design.

I always found it interesting that they decided to pair those two characters up in the show. NOT that I'm complaining... I just always thought Mad Hatter and Baby Doll made more sense.

I would bet it would be a "Beauty and the Beast" type pairing - though Baby Doll's a vicious critter in her own right!
