Fourth of the four commissions I got at FA:United 2015, this is another of my economy-minded badges, so described because it's a pencil image (I seem to be among the few who offer pencil or B/W ink badges at conventions). This is Xai, a character of  brittabutter This commission extended beyond the end of artist alley operations on Saturday, I finished it in FA:U's zoo and by chance, was able to deliver it almost as soon as I completed it :) The script lettering is something I had been doing on other badges, baseball-logo style, and I'm considering making that an optional/advertised feature of my future badges, being that computers and smartphones are making script something of a lost art.

This being the second badge commission, I had a little better idea of how to size the "canvas" to fit in the badge holders I had on hand (FA:U didn't offer lamination services, and I didn't find any dealers with the capabillity). While Xai's horizontally-oriented ears don't lend themselves to a 4x3" badge, I did get enough of them in to give you an idea of their span :). As with the badge for Osiris, I processed my scan for display here, cleaning up the backdrop and stray lines, then making extensive use of a clone brush to first establish an even-textured area of pencil shading for each tone, then spreading that out to the rest of the image.
