Oh the Bloodmoon was difficult because it is so dark. Usally the moon is quite easy: http://gall.akulatraxas.de/albums/a.....7-IMG_2442.jpg
For the Bloodmoon:
Canon 7D, Canon 500mm f4
ISO 1600, 0,4s
I used a beanbag:

Sanguine!... SANGUINE!
Maledictus
Donum libas
Inficimur
Maledictus bestia
Maledictus
Pater do si donas.
Inficimur
Argentum aquae in tenebris.
Mater sanguine
Redemptio risa se
Exciet exciet. Flebatur a salis.
Vale, vale,
Inficimur
In tenebris aquae.
Maledictus
Et argentum aquae.
Inficimur
Et argentum aquae.
Sanguine!

The most important is to bump the ISO setting of my camera up. I'm still fairly new to digital photography, so I don't give it as much thought as I used to with film. With my camera set at ISO 200, I had to take a full 1-second exposure during totality. That is long enough to cause the moon to blur due to the Earth's rotation. I should have cranked it up to at least 1000 or better.
I also need a longer and faster lens. My 70-210 F4.0 zoom is great for general purpose photos. But a decent picture of the moon requires a fixed lens in the 300 to 500 mm range and as fast as I can afford.
Finally, I need to find darker skies. I already knew that, but was stuck too close to the city. Next time, I will make an extra effort to get out to the country.

My camera is old and bad at high iso. For Animal Photography I avoid anything over iso 400. But for this picture I used ISO 1600 because space pictures are easy to recover.
It totally depends on your focal length which is the longest shutter speed useable. The shorter the lens, the longer the shutter speed may be. I was limited by not having a tripod, but I don't recommend anything over 0,4s for moon pictures.
Hehe, having a longer and faster lens its always the problem. You never reach a point where do you have enough :).
The moon is extremly bright. There is no real need for a darker sky. I took this picture in the center of Berlin, a metropolis :). If you want to shoot stars you need a star-park or a place with xtremly low light pollution, thats right.
