So, I've been hyped about Rivals of Aether for quite a while and since it launched a few days ago, I've begun playing it like crazy. Rivals of Aether is pretty much a different take on platform fighters (Smash like games), where the creator inspired himself a lot in Melee/PM gameplay and added his own twists in both gameplay and art. And oh boy, the art and the characters are amazing. The art is mostly 8-bit/pixelated (as it's cheap and easy for indie game devs) and the characters are all furry with amazingly fluid gameplay.

Of all the characters, my favorite is the Lemur/Raccoon hybrid Maypul. As I'm always cursed, the characters I like the most are either crappy (not her case, which makes me really surprised) or do not fit my playstyle (she's a rushdown character... I never play rushdown characters in any games... so yeah...). But I'm not giving up on her! She's way too cool loking to give up that easily!

As a way to challenge myself into actually trying to figure out posing, I used as a reference one of her Taunt animation sprites (which is 8 bit simplified) and used other official splash arts to "unbitfy" it. xD I know it could look a lot better, but this was mostly a learning experience, and one I really liked the result. I intend to enhance it with my drawing tablet soon so I can color and shade it properly.
