Princess Celestia large lifesize MLP cuddle Plush!
Princess Celestia large lifesize MLP cuddle Plush!
*Wings are pinned in place for these photos. They DO NOT stand up like this on their own!*
Lots of new things here!
New head
New wings
New eye embroidery
Awesome 3D cutiemark
Bigger horn
and Bigger hair
Also a tester for concealing my seams better.
She doesn't have her armor because her commissioner didn't want it.
I doubt she wears that to bed anyway ;)
Her mane HAD to have mint in it. She isn't Celestia without that exact color, imo. But it was only available in a shorter pile, and a little wavier than the shannon faux fur I normally use. So I had to shave all the other colors down to match! What a pain, but she sure is pretty with all her correct colors!
New Head: This is my MLP Princess Head V1. It is NOT technically show accurate, but it is what I felt was beautiful and inspired by the princess. Compared to my MLP head V2 this head has a slightly longer nose, and less angle between the nose and forehead. The tip of the nose is slightly more squared. The seam across the forehead approximately where the horn goes has been eliminated. The head is slightly less wide and the darts have been improved.
New Wings: Princess Celestia Double layered wings. These were tricky to make. There are a couple of seams that are almost completely invisible, but are also essential to making these wings work. The wing bone is stuffed fairly firm, while the rest of the wing is loosely stuffed. It is floppy at the shoulder, but slightly less so than my normal wings.
New Eye Embroidery: Ok, so I make a new eye for almost every pony it seems. But what makes these special is that I got a gradient in the satin stitch of the iris! I didn't airbrush it or settle for default fills. I micromanaged my embroidery program to individually place the gradient stitches, overlapping the satin areas. 3 colors of thread are blended fairly smoothly to create Celestia's beautiful eye ;) Also her eyeshadow is a sparkling opal holoshimmer that throws off the same colors of her mane ;)
Awesome 3D cutiemark: Just check out how the pattern fills enhance the shape of her sun! So pretty! The two inner circles shimmer and make that effect of a wheel turning when you see it in person. It's alive!
Bigger Horn: Not a big deal really, but it is a new pattern, and I used a (secret) little trick to close off the bottom this time. Also if you look closely you will see a white yarn wound around the horn, and closer still, you might notice that it sparkles just like her eyeshadow ;)
Bigger Hair: So while this mane and tail are still not as ginormous as the show style ones, this is easily twice as much hair as I've put on any pony to date. Any larger than this, and buyers wouldn't need blankets on their beds, just their ponies!
Better concealed seams? It was my intent to brush away every piece of fur that tries to get under the seam. This started out easy enough, until I got to more complex seams like joining the legs to the body, and then I pinned washable stabilizer to keep the fur back. What a PITA. End result? Marginally better concealed seams. While this attempt made for more atttractive seams, it was not worth the effort. Buyers can achieve alsmot the same result by carefully picking the fur from the seams. I will however continue brushing the fur away before I pin things together, Especially for darts, because it really helped hide the darts!. I'm just never going to the extreme of using stabilizer again.
