It's different, not quite what you normally do but it's not terrible...just, different.
I like it though I admit that it's a little 'confusing' to not see scale texture like on your previous pieces but you are interested in trying a new style, so obviously a conscious choice. The sharp contrast between the clear and visible head, to the more blurred and clearly further away body is jarring though, but I am used to seeing you do a style that makes everything sharp and clear so that is likely why.
Don't let the haters or people who don't like the new style get you down, you should pursue what interests you...always. Artists' tastes and inspiration changes, if it doesn't then it can get them stuck in a rut and left uninspired to create again. If someone doesn't like whatever change or content you create...for FREE...then they can just unwatch and go somewhere else, no one is forcing them to stay.
