Yeah, it's not done but I want to see what people think of it. To be honest, I haven't given up on writing, I just couldn't think of what to have happen but I think I can try and work on it some more.
Chapter 3:
Entering the saloon, I decided to sit at a round table near the window next to the door. The second we sat down the bartender walked up and placed a few plates of steaks and some glasses of water.
“What’s this for,” I asked.
“This is for saving the town, don’t worry about payin, it’s on the house.” The pig snorted and went and grabbed a chair to sit next to us.
“Thank you sir,” I said going and grabbing my fork and knife that came with the plates of food.
“Oh, don’t thank me; I should be the one thankin’ you.” The bartender said with a hardy chuckle. “By the way, call me Finis.” Finis said as he leaned forward like he was going to tell a secret.
“Those were some mighty fine moves you got there, son. Tell me how could you do such things with fire?”
“We’re elementals,” I said after swallowing my mouth full of food.
“Elementals eh,” asked Finis. “Don’t get a lot of them around her either. Such a small unknown town we have here, it’s a wonder you found it.”
I looked to Finis. “We really were just looking around for a place to rest. We just found this place by sheer luck.”
Finis looked around like he was searching for something.
“You said some’n about a previous bounty.” Finis said
“Yeah, I did.” I said taking a sip of my water.
“Could you tell me about it?”
“Not much to say.” I said going for another bite of my steak.
“Oh,” Finis said “So what will you be doin next?” He asked looking at all three of us.
“Probably just look around, see if we can restock on supplies.” Richard said digging into his food.
“Is that so?” Finis asked
“Yeah, According to the map I saw on your wall over there,” I pointed to the map that was on the far side of the saloon, “It should take a few month to get to the capital.”
“That is a long time.” Finis said leaning back and folding his arms. “You know, I think I know of a person who can give you a lift to the capital, she’ll be leaving here soon anyway, moving really.” Finis said rubbing his chin.
“Oh,” I ask
“Oh yeah, sweet vixen she is.” Said Finis, the tone in his voice indicated that Finis had high respect for this girl. I stared at James as he adjusted his goggles on his head.
“So, I think it’s getting late.” I said looking out the window and noticed it was dark outside and that most of the people had already left and the only ones left was Finis and us.
“Hey Finis, you wouldn’t know of any place we could stay for the night would you?” I ask turning to see that he had gotten up and had started whipping off the tables.
Finis looked up to us, “We actually run a hotel here as well.”
“Is there any way for us to rent a room?” I ask
“Don’t see why not,” He said putting his hand with a rag on his hip and leaning on the table. “However, it will cost ya, still runnen a business here.”
“That’s understandable.” I say going and grabbing my wallet. “How much will it be?”
“Hm,” Finis began looking at the ceiling like it would have the answer. “I would say fifty Maniukh.”
“That shouldn’t be too much,” I say taking digging into my wallet and pulling out fifty brown papers with Avery Yale, the current president of karpshaka on it.”
Finis took the money and beckoned us to follow him up stairs.
Having been a few hours since we settled for the night, I lay on the bed with my coat and hat hanging on the coat hanger with Richard and James’s. I pondered much of what was going to happen tomorrow. Seeing this woman would be a good start. To be honest, I was starting to get tired of walking.
As I thought, the door to the bathroom opened and Richard stepped out using his towel to dry his ears out.
“I hate getting water in my ears.” Richard complained as he put the towel down.
“Your turn,” He said to James who was tinkering with a contraption. James looked up at Richard for a sec before nodding. He stood up and grabbed his pajamas then walked into the bathroom. Seconds later I could hear the shower running.
“So, what’s the plane for tomorrow?” Richard asked, sitting on his bed with a brush in one hand and his tail in the other.
“Most likely go into town, restock.” I said lying down on my bed with my hand underneath my head.
“I was thinking you and James could go into town and restock on supplies while I go see this mechanic.”
“You’re interested in her aren’t you?” Richard chuckled.
“I am not!” I exclaim a little taken aback. “I haven’t even met her yet.”
“Still, doesn’t mean you can’t like her.” Richard went to comb the fur on his arm after putting his tail down.
“Oh, shut up!” I exclaim throwing my pillow at him.
Richard, with great reflexes, was able to grab it. A cyan aura around the pillow as it floated in the air, his eyes and markings glowing as well.
“Nice reflexes.” I say with a grin.
