After two hours of figure drawing, I sometimes hit a point of boredom, so I decided to turn my model into a lynx.
Coloured pencil, 1 or 2 minute pose.

Thanks very much about the line of action! I'm sure as an animator, you know about how we only really care about the pose and attitude in a figure drawing, so I'm glad it's working out! I think I also fleshed out the face and stuff after the pose was over, too, so it wasn't all 2 minutes, sadly. <33
Maya is actually good for both, its industry standard for most companies out there. It has a very powerful animation system along with modeling. I love Maya, and I have plenty of animation scripts that help me animate. Almost like how a handyman has their special tools to get things done :)
Well bare in mind that the computer wont do all of the animation. Maya does most of the inbetween work, but it finds the easy way to get from one pose to another. Thats when the fleshy bloke controlling the mouse comes into play. You need to be able to add your breakdowns, etc. Then play with your timing, etc. Its a lot of work, but I love it!
For modeling, its pretty strong, I only know a little bit of modeling in Maya. I only model when I need an object like a hat, glass, etc. Its well worth it if you get a chance to use it. Autodesk has a Personal Learning Edition, so if you are curious, check it out ^___^
