A new, old character! This is Maverick, the always-a-little-too-cautious fox as he graces the cover of Axis of Conflict #2, published in Autumn of 1997.
In issue #1, he and a great many others escaped from a militaristic institution named F.I., and are being hunted by all manner of law enforcement and mercenaries. Here, Maverick is waiting to meet-up with Shellback, the organizer of the great escape. Maverick places a weapon on the road's edge, signaling where he can be found.
