This 5 1/2 inch naturally deceased red fox skull has been cleaned and processed using environmentally safe methods by me.
I engraved steampunk style details into the cranium of the skull and then airbrushed the entire thing in rich antique copper and added details of brushed gold. Dark bronze deepens the color palette here and there, creating a light-capturing metallic glow that shifts and blends together. The skull absolutely comes aflame with color in sunlight!
Twin chains of bronze run from the zygomatic arches to the lower jaw where they are hooked onto the lower canine teeth by a pair of tiny 14k gold elecroplated rings. A bronze decorative skeleton key is held in the jaws, and the teeth have been hand-colored to have an aged 'rusty' appearance.
A short length of bronze links is drilled into the skull's crest, and tipping those links is a single bead of 12k gold. A flame-red pheasant feather (that red is natural!) is also attached to the crest at the same point to compliment the copper and gold tones.
The skull hangs on a 20 inch bronze chain that matches the jaw chains. The jaws are missing a few teeth, but the key helps distract from this and IMO the missing teeth adds to the weathered look of the piece. No large teeth or canine teeth/fangs are missing.
