I beat Xenoblade Chronicles recently and loved it! Dunban was one of my favorite fighters.

I really need to beat Xenoblade Chronicles. I always hear the healer isn't needed but I'm not sure how I feel about the other damage dealers I have. Riki is a bit meh imo and Dunban is a tank and I really don't care much for the magic lady. I really like my Shulk, Dunban, Sharla team but I can get through a lot of fights just fine without her.

The last act is when the game really ramps up! Where are you at right now if sayin it isn't too much of a spoiler? XD
Healers are almost completely unneeded outside of boss fights. Melia is fantastic for ether DPS which will become ultra important for one of the later bosses just so you know
Her AI is quite bad tho so get used to controlling her for some fights! I only really controlled Shulk other than her most of the time but I love how it gives you the freedom to 'main' anyone you want!
Dunban can do some damage actually! For physical dps characters I recommend not using strength gems (not a good return on investment) and using any mixture of Haste, Double Attack, Attack Up, and Attack Stability gems on their weapons
Oftentimes picking weapons that have a ton of slots is better than one with higher damage but less slots!
Riki is great for any role actually. I set all of his dot arts for some great consistent dps and the You Can Do It art is fantastic for some quick AOE healing
He starts becoming very useful later on. After you get him he does seem meh but hes great imo!
Gem him out with ether mainly but you can do strength if you use his few strength abilities, up to you
I maxed out initial tension so that he could use Happy Happy right away in battles, saved my life so many times having a party gauge slot right out of the gate!
I used a lot of Shulk, Dunban, and Riki for regular mobs!
For some bosses I could get by with Shulk and Riki's modest healing but yeah for sure Sharla is needed for when it gets hard, that might just be because I'm bad though haha
Later in the game I liked Melia, Shulk/Dunban, and Sharla
Honestly I hardly ever used Reyn after the first half of the game, Dundun all the way!

Yeah, Dunban can do damage, but I hear he really shines as an agility dodge tank. I'm just past the point where Riki joins you permanently as in, not to the top of the bionis yet. I do know about that one other character but no on goes into specifics about them so idk who this 7 is.
