Believe it or not I'm using a plain ol' HP all-in-one to print on 4x6 photo paper. I print the front and back, trim em to size, paste the halves together, and snip the corners off. The holographic effect is a sticker paper I got at Hobby Lobby. The odd layering doesn't matter so much as they get laminated or put into plastic protective sleeves.
I seriously need to get a better printer (I am currently turning a crowdfunding campaign for a decent wide format printer over in my brain) but these little crooked 4x6 prints do the trick for now!

I totally understand about not going to a printer for one-off stuff. Pricing structures are almost always geared towards large-run projects, or at the very least short-run with a minimum quantity. One of the reasons I like this print house is because they're very friendly towards short-run projects.
