Tsk, typical, isn't it? The private eye helps the girl escape capture or death and what does she do? She runs off leaving him with more questions than answers. Seriously, what's she thinking? "I'm being hunted by a group of crazed weirdos who brutally murdered my father, I don't know who I can trust...so I better abandon the one person so far who's actually been on my side."
Incidentally this isn't a criticism of the writing here, I think the comic's top-notch; it's more a criticism of the trope and how characters in detective noir stories tend to keep the P.I. in the dark, even when they're working with them.
If I was in O'Malley's position, next time I ran into that girl, I'd say "Well, are you going to cooperate so I can help you with this case? Or are you going to run away....AGAIN?"

AGain another impending plot twist, First a reptilian Surveyor who delivered an evil orb(that only affects warmbloods) to A researcher in an underground lab(if that wasn't Obvious enough.) then a Detective hired to protect the family stumbles across a cult and saves the girl... only for him to end up in the hospital because of a wound sustained on the job. Whats next a Soldier or Cop part of a special unit to contain the cult violence?
