My Dad used to keep them when I was a kid in Houston. Then my sister suddenly decided this spring that she wanted one, so there was Sushi who sits on our dining table. And, because owning Bettas is like eating potato chips, he was soon followed by Alpha, Bravo (who apparently had an injured swim bladder and died), Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, George, and Henry. We also now have a bowl with four females in it: India, Juliet, Kilo and Lima.
Really creative naming, no?

I miss having Betas, lots of guts in those fish. I had one regularly pick on a 22 inch plucky whenever it got close. I actually had two males in the same tank and they rarely brawled. Of coarse it was a 50 gallon tank so each fish had his end to guard.
Plus they are great to eat mosquitos and their larve.
Great art.
