Once I saw someone post about how they couldn't even draw anymore out of fear of judgment. I suggested to them to put their focus inwards. To sense the feeling of pencils and brushes in their hands, to pay attention to how they create something out of nothing when they draw. To compare their image not with others, but only with the boring, empty blank page it was before.
They started drawing again, and I made sure to give them positive feedback. Nothing false. I don't have to lie to tell someone what I like best about their picture!
I recently got a message from them. They decided to go to drawing classes. Art has become fun and enjoyable for them again, to a point where they want to do it more, maybe even pursue a career in it. Maybe. But mainly enjoy it.
That made me so happy.
