Chapter 36
“That was a total disappointment!” snapped Bailey while sauntering out of the shade of the open castle doorway and into the sun with David and his team quick on her heals. They crossed the drawbridge and promptly headed back into town. “That brochure lied about everything! It certainly looks bigger on the outside. I can’t believe they only let us see the scant things in there! One bedroom. How on earth does any family survive on one bedroom?!”
“There might have been extra rooms hidden off from the general public?” asked David while offering up a possibility. “I don’t know, but it sounded like it hasn’t been lived in in a while.”
“Still,” grumbled Bailey. “They didn’t have to make it sound all glorified and a must see attraction when it totally isn’t!”
“I don’t know about you,” interrupted Brylie as the Bunnelby tugged on one of David’s pant legs with one of her large ears. “But I definitely found some things just lying around. You can thank my Pick-Up ability for that one.”
“Okay,” said David while bending down to the rabbit’s eye level. “What did you find?”
“Unfortunately,” said the bunny. “There was no sign of my secret torture chamber, but I will find it next time I return. No. I found these.”
She uncurled her other ear. David took the coiled length of rope she offered him and a translucent pink stone with a black and pale yellow swirl going through the center of it. There was a small line of white travelling through the streak.
“The rope was tucked under the chair behind the desk,” replied Brylie when he glanced up at her from the items in his hands. “The stone thingy was hidden beside the railing of the stairway on the second floor. It’s really a lucky thing I found the darn thing. It looked like some idiot had lodged it into the floor on purpose. It took all my ability to get it.”
“But this looks like the same kind of Mega Stone Professor Sycamore gave me back when I beat him in his lab,” gasped David. “Just differently coloured. That one was sort of clear white with a blue and brown streak through it instead.”
“Oh?” asked Bailey with interest. “Professor Sycamore gave you a Mega Stone?”
“Yes,” replied David while fishing out the stone in question. “You know what they are?”
“Of course,” said Bailey while rolling her eyes. “I know about Mega Evolution. I may be here in search of Fairy-types, but the top Pokémon Professors in each region are in constant communication. I know they help each other with their research sometimes. Professor Birch has found a few around Hoenn and I know they can be found around Kalos as well.”
“Oh,” muttered David. “Then do you know which one Brylie found inside the castle?”
“You have the latest Pokédex?” asked the girl. She continued to his nod. “Then it should be able to scan the items you find and tell you what they are just like it does for the Pokémon you meet.”
David’s eyebrows raised. He swiftly reached into his bag and retrieved his red Pokédex. He fumbled trying to get it open and hold the stones at the same time and dropped it.
Bailey swiftly picked it up and handed it back to him with a grin. He slid the case open and revealed the transparent screen of the device and held it over the stones in his hands. His Pokémon gathered around to see what it was going to say about the stones.
“Blastoisinite,” said the Pokédex in its computerized male voice. “One variety of the mysterious Mega Stones. Have Blastoise hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle.”
David silently moved it so it was focused more on the one Brylie had retrieved from the castle.
“Mawilite,” stated the Pokédex. “One variety of the mysterious Mega Stones. Have Mawile hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle.”
“Well,” said Bailey. “It looks like you actually found a Mega Stone for a Fairy-type! I bet Professor Oak and Sycamore would both like to know about this!”
“I can give Spike the Blastoisinite once he evolves into a Blastoise,” said David. “But I’m not sure what to do with the other one. I don’t have a Mawile on my team to raise and I don’t think I’ll be catching one either.”
“How about you give it to Professor Sycamore to hold onto and study until your challenge is done?” suggested Bailey with a shrug. “Who knows, you might find a need for it in the future.”
“That sounds like a good idea,” agreed David with a nod. “I’ll let him have it when I see him next. I’ll be back in Lumiose City to face Clemont at some point so I can hold onto it until then.”
“Eevee,” stated the Pokédex when he let his hand wander a little too much. “The Evolution Pokémon. A rare Pokémon that adapts to harsh environments by taking on different evolutionary forms.”
Evan yelped loudly and backed away from the device as though it were possessed.
“You heard it,” said Stevie as the Snivy moved closer to the Eevee. “You are a rare Pokémon!”
“But I don’t want to be rare,” mumbled the Pokémon while trying to bury its face into its paws.
“How about this stone?” asked Brylie while holding up another Mega Stone in her ears. “I found this one back in the Santalune Forest sometime before I was captured. What does your Pokédevice-thingy say about it?”
“You what?!” exclaimed David while accepting the stone from her. “Where do you pull those items out of?!”
“That’s for me to know and you to never find out!” exclaimed the Bunnelby in irritation. “Just tell me what kind of stone I found for you already!”
“What did she do or say?” asked Bailey with her eyebrows raised.
“Seems she’s been holding onto a Mega Stone all this time without tell anyone about it,” muttered David while moving his Pokédex over the translucent yellow stone with a gray-brown, orange and chestnut streak swirling through it.
“Pinsirite,” stated the Pokédex. “One variety of the mysterious Mega Stones. Have Pinsir hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle.”
“What?!” exclaimed Brylie while blinking rapidly with an offended look. “I’ve been carrying around an item belonging to that … that … such a … that … UGLY Pokémon?!”
“I beg your pardon?!” exclaimed Scottie as the Scraggy turned on her. “I am of the opinion that no one Pokémon is uglier than any other. I’ve heard some trainers complain about my kind of Pokémon enough. I will not accept it from a fellow Pokémon!”
David’s eyes remained wide enough for Bailey to notice.
“What is it?” asked the girl in concern. “What happened? You know how much this sucks, right? I want to be included in the conversation!”
“Sorry,” said David. “It seems-”
Anything more he was about to explain was cut off by a loud yowl followed by a thunderbolt narrowly missing the group.
“DAVID!” roared a large, dark blue and yellow cat-like Pokémon as it bounded through the small fountain in the middle of the street. It halted abruptly before it could knock over the boy. The suddenness of its appearance caused him to drop the stones he was holding. “It’s Max! He needs your help!”

Talon's Rules
1. All Pokemon (with maybe the exception of your starter if you so wish) must have been obtained within a Wonder Trade upon starting the game.
2. You have six slots in your party. You must have three pokemon you can interchange per slot. Pokemon from the same group slot can never be in your party at the same time. Only one per group slot at a time. You will have a grand total of eighteen pokemon as part of your team.
3. If a Pokemon should faint, it is considered "DEAD" and must be either released or placed in the PC. Once all three pokemon from a group slot have fainted, you can only use five pokemon at a time.
4. No buying items (with the exception of the Poke Balls used to aid you in your Wonder Trade). All items are found in the region (or if you are super lucky, you may be able to rely on a pokemon whose ability is Pick Up as I have). Buying TMs in the Shop is the exception.
I do not own any characters that may coincide with characters from the games.

Personal Notes
I am truly sorry for not posting one of these last week. I reached the castle and almost literally hit a wall. I had no clue what to write. Nothing came to mind .... so I figured I might as well just skip it with some minor complaining :P
