Memories



Smithy grumbled, it wasn't too long a fight but he was more upset at the fact that RD had been a bit TOO excited in flying back to town that he almost failed to grab on "You know...YOU need to learn some restraint."


"Sorry but I need to get the info back to my friends as soon as possible, this is important! We might have a real shot of winning this digifight and turning the tide" RD said smiling all the way to the hotel


Smithy rolled his eyes, but couldn't contain the smirk forming on his face "If everything goes as well as Baihumon expects things to go. Then we'll have nothing to worry about." When they'd get back inside, Jesse was rubbing his chin with his eyes continuously scanning over his digivices screen


RD noticed this as he looked at Jesse then at the digivice "Jesse? What's wrong? You look concerned."


Jesse cut out of his daze and looked at RD "I think it might be easier to show you. This came in just after you guys left to see Baihumon." Jesse pointed his digivice towards the holo screen in the room and transferred the files into it. Opening a file whose title read SOS. Followed by Kiya's account of what's happening in the south "Scav was captured by a very powerful digimon. Someone on par with Daemon maybe even stronger by the name of Chronomon."


RD cringed "So in other words Kiya's in trouble and he needs everyone to help right?" RD asked as he read the files off, his tail twitching.


Jesse nodded "That about sums it up. He's currently in Zhuqiaomon's shrine...or castle from what he surmises. He's trying to get the lords approval and complete their mission. But he doesn't think he can rescue Scav by himself. PRoblem is...the tournament resumes in a couple days. It would take that long just to MAKE it to the south."

Smithy shook his head "Not necessarily. there IS a way to get there in less time." He pointed out, looking thoughtful.


RD tilted his head at that "There is? What way is that?" RD asked clearly confused


"It's the way us four Guardians travel between the regions. You've already been down to the underground base right? Well let's all go down there immediately. That will be our ticket in." Smithy stated matter of factly


RD blinked, recalling him and Flare stumbling into the base once before. "Ok you will explain how it works once we get there right?" RD asked clearly confused as to what was going on


Smithy nodded "Of course. I think you should let out the caretaker though. And...eat Max." He pointed out, chuckling. "Considering the caretaker of the base...I don't think I need to explain WHY we need to do this."


RD blinked "Oh um right he should be ready at around this point" RD said getting out his digivice

Max cringed when he heard that "Wait?! Eat me? Eat me why?!"


Smithy shook his head "Because I don't want you going crazy and RD's stomach is as good a place to keep you from ripping said persons head off. Besides...you didn't have to listen to his stomach growling for the past hour or so."


RD blinked then chuckled as he looked at Max "Don't worry Max we've done it so many times that's it's not even a big deal anymore"


Max sweatdropped, nodding a few times "That's true...I guess just being TOLD I'm to be eaten just feels different. Anyways I'm ready if you are." He scratched his cheek a few times


RD didn't need to be told twice as he gulped Max down as quickly as he could. As often as they'd done this, he was going through the motions now.


Max cringed, squirmed as he was gulped down without so much as another word. Smithy just shook his head, snickering "Leopardmon has the same appetite..." The knight started blushing, already getting out of his seat.


RD took notice of this but didn't mention it "Let's get to the underground room"


Smithy nodded "Alright everyone form up." He made sure everyone was there before he started leading them to the same rock formation that RD found the base his first time.


RD again took note of this, looking from side to side as they made their way to the formation


Leopardmon looked around, making sure nobody was keeping an eye on the place. When a few digimon popped up he would just flash his saber and wave them off "Just knight buisness. Nothing to see here folks." After that he pushed the stone pillar so they would descend into the base


"Ahem...Alright RD..." Smithy called out once they made it to the bottom "Let out the caretaker. We need his help to get to the south."


RD nodded as he let growlmon or guilmon now out of the digivice, materializing it and reviewing everything as he went along.


Growlmon looked around, then noted everyone in the base, he sweatdropped "This...is very unorthodox...Erm...so..."


Leopardmon walked over, giving Growlmon a stern look. "This is a matter of the digital worlds stability. We need you to get us to the South now."


Growlmon sweatdropped, then blinked when he saw RD's stomach thrashing about in response to his voice "Uhm...please don't tell me that's who I think it is in there..." He already started working with the controls in the base.

RD sweatdropped "This a matter of utmost importance" RD added under his breath "And hopefully we can do something about it.


Growlmon nodded, cringing as he could have sworn he heard a few curses inside of RD's stomach. Out of character for Max. But still, Growlmon finished up setting up the bases systems "Alright...Erm I'll send us all there. Just errr...hold onto something tight..."


RD looked around at what were mainly stone walls "Like what?"


Growlmon didn't respond, he simply focused on his controls while pulling up an external camera so they could view what was going on outside, there was a sudden shaking in the ground before the cameras started picking up what looked to be the stone monument breaking free of it's foundation before the whole base outside and inside was dragged into the air as if it were some sort of flying ship. Fang was the first to point it out as his eyes went wide. "We're in a spacecraft! I didn't think digimon had technology like this. We're in the digimon emperor's base!"


That got an annoyed growl out of Growlmon, who never once looked away from his controls. "Hardly...This beauty was constructed by Yggdrasil himself. One of the few flying ships that he created before he went into hibernation."

"Yeah" RD remembered this, it seemed like he was lost in thought, though that usually meant that something good was going to happen.


Growlmon took a deep breath "We'll be there within an hour or two. So...will someone please fill me in on what's going on?"


RD nodded "One of our friends is now in a clash with a digimon of incredible power which has also been corrupted by the darkness, I met Baihumon and know that if we can cure the Royal Knights of their darkness we can gain an edge in this fight also my digivice has been upgraded see?" The entire story came out in one big tumble before RD thrust the digivice practically in growlmon's face.


Growlmon cringed, staring at the digivice crosseyed as it was flung into his face "Wow...I can certainly see that. Someones definitely in a good mood. And that sounds like a bunched up tale...So then. We're going out to help him then. I'll take us as far as I can to the sanctuary."


RD nodded as he giggled a bit, some of the others in the group rolling their eyes at his enthusiasm, save for Fang who kept pestering Growlmon about how the ship functioned, even requesting if he could have a tour of the ship but the big dino shrugged him off.


Growlmon nodded "And you never answered my prior question." Doru climbed up Growlmon's tail "


You know very well who it is. Otherwise you wouldn't have looked so concerned." Growlmon sweatdropped when he was told this, but nodded "Y-yes sir..."


RD sweatdropped too. Doru may not have been a royal knight currently, but he still commanded respect from everyone around him, heck even RD had to admit despite all that's happened he wouldn't dare doubt or question the beast types command. Still he couldn't help but sigh "Anyways we need to save our friend first before we do anything else or we're in serious trouble"


"Okay...Well then hold on to your horses." Suddenly the base shook a bit, speed obviously picking up as a few of them started sliding to the far wall


RD blinked as he dug his toeclaws into the floor, he hadn't expected the sudden transition of speed.


Leopardmon was about to do the same with his rapier but Flare grabbed his arm "Don't you dare! Last time you did that we fell out of Drill's room and woke up a cranky tyrannomon!"

Growlmon laughed "Alright...any moment now..." He kept his hands firmly at the controls, eyes scanning the monitors for any problems.


RD blinked when he heard that and tried not to burst out laughing. It was the first time he heard THAT detail about their encounter with Daemon.

Smithy winced, trying to hide a small smirk on his face "He's always been like that! Leopardmon was the odd one out of the brothers. Like Max is, he's a goof. How he became a royal knight is beyond me..."


Leopardmon cringed, deciding it would be best to simply hover in the air for the duration rather than try to hold onto anything. Eventually the view would change to that of what looked to be a desolate wasteland. This had to be the south alright, Kiya's accounts on how this region of the digital world was not exaggerated. Looked like the whole place was a constant warzone.


"Darn it, I don't like the look of this place at all" RD said shaking his head. he recalled Kiya's message on Jesse's digivice. "A place that strength is the way to get your point across..It doesn't seem right."


Jesse looked out, cringing "I...don't like this either. Kiya did mention it was bad though. Everyone in this region uses strength to get their way..."


"Law of the jungle? Crazy....though not unheard of" RD said nodding in agreement.


Growlmon nodded and spat to the side. "It's been this way for centuries believe it or not. While I don't exactly APPROVE of their actions. I have no say in the affairs of another region. Now let's see..." He cringed and looked at the lava that surrounded the castle "We're landing in there so...hold onto your horses!"


RD blinked and braced himself on the closest wall to the front


Growlmon started setting them down, it was a fast descend, some shouting and swearing before there was an audible splash as streaks of lava filled their viewscreens. IT seemed the base however was resistant to the liquid "Whew...is everyone okay?" Growlmon called out.


RD groaned as several more groans and complaints about growlmon's crazy flying were issues, RD made a mental note that it was amazing that growlmon could fly a ship that well without thumbs


Growlmon took a deep breath, looking at everyone, but it was Smithy who looked like he was ready to pounce "YOu...landed in the lava...how are we supposed to get to the castle?!"


Growlmon cringed, pushing away Smithy. "I had to land in the lava! It's called conceiling our position. Besides...there's an underground entrance to the castle below the lava..."


"How do we get underneath THAT?!? We're not meramon for crying out loud" RD stated fairly annoyed. He was just about ready to pounce on Growlmon with Smithy, but then Growlmon lifted a paw at them.


Growlmon rolled his eyes "This is a BASE...it wouldn't be a base if it didn't have a few tricks up it's sleeve..." With that a long red tube started protruding from the base, connecting to a cave within castle's bottom.


RD blinked as he went to where the tube was connected. Again, he had to give it to Growlmon, seems you don't need thumbs afterall to get things done.


Growlmon looked at RD "Everyone walk single file...Don't over crowd the place...Leopardmon...you lead, as you're a royal knight." Leopardmon nodded, carefully crawling through the tube


RD followed close behind but he kept muttering, it sounded like 'there's something much more powerful than light and darkness' but then he kept saying weird things like 'they are just two results from the same thing' though finally he shook his head and smacked his cheeks. Maybe he was sleepy. RD looked behind himself "Well? If we don't hurry I don't want to think of what might happen!"


Smithy cringed, the rest of them following behind "Just keep going will ya!" When they finally got through the tube, they finally made it into what looked like Zhuqiaomon's chambers.


Lyle was sitting at the corner with Kiya's digivice in hand "Finally! The cavalry arrives!" He smiled wide. “We'd been wondering when you guys would make it here. But we thought it'd take days for help to arrive.”


RD clapped his paws "Heya! We're here to help, strength in numbers and all that!" He walked over to Lyle, holding a paw out. “I don't think we've met! The name's RainbowDragon. But everyone calls me RD.”


Lyle nodded a few times "Kiya is recharging in the digivice. He kinda...wiped himself out fighting the lord." He lifted a massive paw which engulfed RD's. “The name's Lyle. And I see you brought my brothers along...”


"He went toe to toe with a lord.....geeze.....ok well....wait....if you're here and Kiya is in there.....who's in trouble?" RD asked the realization suddenly dawning on him that he didn't have the entire picture in his head when he first heard about the SOS.


Zhuqiaomon's eyes were locked on RD, the room suddenly burning up as they all crowded up "The lot of you came to this region without an understanding of what's going on?"


"I knew that one of my friends was in danger, what I DIDN'T know was WHICH of my friends was in danger" RD said....something was wrong it took took the span of a second, but a small boy suddenly split itself from RD's form.

staring up at Zhuqiaomon and then the rest of them, the boy suddenly spoke. “This worlds memories...I can't seem to read them. Light and darkness are two sides of the same coin, only created when a rip in the void created the big bang and thus our universe was forged.”


Zhuqiaomon stared at the kid, staring at him with calm eyes, calm, yet despite, he never lost his composure as he spoke. "You speak of the human world. Yet know nothing of our own history child. Don't assume you understand our world.”


The child stopped and laughed, it was a hollow empty sound that could've been played on a recorder "You know nothing" The child said bluntly all at once everything around them vanished "The beginning was neither darkness or light....nothing but the void" There was then was looked like a massive explosion and everyone felt like they were ripping apart on the molecular level "Then the big bang happened and the rest was history" When finished the creepy child was gone and everyone was lying on the floor, untouched but still feeling the pain that was shown to them....RD looked like he was about to start crying "That....thing.....is memory power personified......it can make you relive and experience everything both joyful and painful that you had in your life....or anyone else's life....and now he's loose in the digiworld!!" RD winced and looked like he was about to start chasing after it.

Zhuqiaomon listened quietly, understanding the gravity of the situation but not fully appreciating it. “No. He is devoid of this worlds memories. As I said. That child may be memory power personified. But memories are fickle. Time distorts it, and eventually those memories become legend as nobody can recollect them as they were. What he said, about this digital world. The big bang? I can say without a doubt. Not because I was there when it started, not because I am one piece of Yggdrasil, the digimon God himself. But because sleeping in this region, in every region is a zone known as the temples of truth. The digital world remembers, it remembers every digimon's life and their lifespan and records it within the temples walls. While our memories are not perfect, time will dull our senses...these walls record everything perfectly.”


RD winced "Be that as it may we have to stop him, he's not going to align himself to either side and simply spread destruction and chaos as he goes as long as he is in THAT state....I need to get him back....otherwise....." RD winced "He might be able to hit the reset button on the entire digiworld, he's memory personified, if he gets his hands on memories from the very beginning of digiworld.....the demon lords will no longer be of any concern.....since we'll be too busy growing out of DIAPERS before we can worry about that!"


Zhuqiaomon cringed when he heard that, grumbling "We can't turn a blind eye on Chronomon either. The longer you wait, the longer Scav is persuaded towards the darkness. A team of you will go after your memories. the rest will liberate Scav."


RD thought carefully "The people who should liberate SD should be the ones that are the strongest and can stand toe to toe with chronomon for any extended period of time." RD nodded "As for my memories....he'll be looking for anyone who's forgotten past pain or is re-experiencing it....." RD's eyes widened "Oh no....that means he'll also be going after SD and chronomon!"


Smithy rubbed his chin "You and Max go after him. He's already in your gut afterall..."


RD nodded as he ran after what was probably the second single biggest threat to the digiworld after the darkness...the entire digiworld was made on data and memory, all that crazed....THING had to do was rest in one spot.....most likely primary village....and all the pain and suffering to delete a million digimon over would be at his fingertips....they had to hurry


Max cringed as he was bounced around inside of RD "Wooooah! Hey...this isn't the type of bouncy house I imaged I'd ever be in y'know!" He tried to make light of the situation, sighing.


RD tried not to chuckle at that, to his stunned surprise he spotted the child just twelve yards away from where they were, now he was sobbing uncontrollably "Oof I forgot he has mood swings....memories are weird that way" before he could get close the memory child bolted again which once again caused RD to chase after it. Strange how he wasn't being hit by any memory attacks from it.


Max groaned, grabbing the walls or trying to at least to stop the bouncing, still, he knew exactly what was happening after overhearing RD. A few digimon, namely some Birdramon caught sight of the memory child and looked dazed or confused.


RD's eyes widened as one of the birdramon simply dropped out of the sky as he finally caught up to it..... "Got to do this just right, only the right sequence of memories will help me catch it" RD sighed, It took awhile of concentration and a very random sequence of good memories but finally the form rippled, shifted and then rd simply walked over and hugged it, which caused it to disappear, presumably reabsorbed "Ugh....I hope that never happens again, it's hard enough dealing with the darkness"


Max rolled his eyes "Well...I'm glad you're happy...now...that everyone else is away...HOW ABOUT TELLING ME WHY I HEARD MY DAD'S VOICE?!"


[10:08:00 PM] rainbowdragon: RD was running again "Sorry can't talk now have to save Scavengerdragon from a crazed digimon lalalalalala!" RD sang as he ran off


Max rolled his eyes as he heard that and started pouting inside of RD.


Inside of his digivice, Kiya was thinking clearly over the days past events. The battle suddenly replayed itself for him, albiet it was a very short battle.


Kiya had digivolved straight into Groundramon, ready to tear into the High lords behind. Yet despite all the rage he felt at the time, all of the reasons he'd been fighting for couldn't prepare him. Zhuqiamon didn't even have to flap his wings to put Kiya back into his place. A steady stream of fire was all it took to bring Kiya back down into the rookie stage. “You boy...need to learn patience. I had not said I would not aid you. But you must be of a clear mind to be of any help to anybody. I am going to bestow upon you the light of the lords. It's up to YOU to come up with a digivolution that is not only powerful enough to deal with Chronomon...but one good enough to change the future set in place.”


Those words never left Kiya's thoughts, even as he recovered in his digivice he listened to the going ons outside. “A digivolution that can change the future. I...don't want to be the type of digimon, or the type of friend that scares friends like I did Lyle. I want to save Scavenger, and I want to prevent people like Daemon and Chronomon from having their way.”


Zhuqiaomon took a deep breath, looking at all that were left in his castle. His eyes were locked on Jesse, and he hovered just at eye level. “You are the inheritor of the Darkness. Just as Max Inherits the light. You are the one most capable of leading this operation.”


“NO!” Kiya growled out from his digivice. It started shining brilliantly, until Lyle was forced to drop the device. “Dracomon double warp digivolve too!!”


Kiya was forced out of his digivice as his body started expanding. Shining brilliantly in the room as he started taking on his dragonic appearance from the real world, his legs wrapping themselves into a light silvery armor, His torso next to suit up as a yellow chestplate formed over him, making up the appearance of his normal scale coloration. Wrapping around his left arm was an iron gauntlet, only handclaws protruding from their protective coating, while his right arm was completely transformed into what looked like a Gatling gun. On either side of his shoulers formed a pair of dragon headed shaped missiles that looked like they packed a whollop. If one looked close enough Kiya was not simply the same dragon he'd been back in the real world. He had been turned into a Cyborg dragon, dinosaur haunched over, glaring red eyes gazing at his new surroundings, finally he started hovering in midair due to a pair of jet thrusters docked at his soles. “Vulcandramon!!!”




Zhuqiaomon stared at Kiya, as if he'd gone mad. But looking into those eyes, he could tell Kiya was in complete control of his senses. “That's a form I've never seen. What gave you the inspiration?”



Kiya took a deep breath, staring over at Zhuqiaomon and holding his gun arm to the side. “I am a simple dragon. I care about my friends. And my current digivolutionary path was going to lead me to a path of destruction. This is the form I've decided to take. And it's in this form that I will put an end to Chronomon's coup and bring both him and SD back from the brink. I won't let anybody else lead this liberation but me.”



For a few seconds, nobody knew what to say. Even Dorumon was at a loss for words, until Jesse walked over to Kiya, staring up at his ten foot frame and was clearly impressed. “You have command then. Scav is your friend afterall. And now we have two mega's.”



Leopardmon uncrossed his arms and walked over to Kiya to shake his gauntleted hand. “I'll distract Chronomon long enough for you to rescue Scav. The rest of the group will purify the Buraimon that Chronomon infected.”



Kiya looked over Leopardmon, and he was about to reply when another voice cut in. “Make that THREE Mega's.” A shadow peered out from the walls opposite of the group, revealing himself to be none other than the Royal knight Ulforceveedramon. “As much as I'd like to leave you to do all the distracting, Leopardmon...Chronomon is not a digimon that just one of us can tackle alone. We'll do it together.”



Doru's eyes shone bright, he walked over to both digimon and laughed. “Man! I wish I could help you guys! Three knights would be even better!!”



Ulforceveedramon looked down at Doru in amusement, and lowered a clawed hand down at him. “We have three knights. But you should stay behind...help contend with the Buraimon. When you're back to full strength we're going to need you...leader.”



Dorumon sweatdropped, before blushing bright. He'd never loved the attention of being known as the commander of the royal knights. But he clenched a paw. “You got it! Now...let's all get to it!!”
