Onyx the Headless... Artist (New Character!)
In the same footsteps of my new nekomata, Olivia, I decided to make a new Headless Horseman character.
Name: Onyx Bellerose
Age: ~750 years old
Race/Species: Restless Spirit/Animated Corpse/"Headless Horseman"
Hobbies: Painting, sketching, daydreaming, getting laid, bugging his housemate (Alabaster)
Personality: Generally quiet and very timid around new people/places, with a trickster streak and a high sex drive
Background: He was born to a peasant family in Aix-en-Provence, France, around the middle of the 1250s. (Incidentally, he was named "Onyx" because his father had a twisted sense of humor.) Sadly this turned out to be a very bad joke, because Onyx didn't have many friends growing up due to staying inside most of the time (and being mocked for his appearance/name when he did venture out). His parents were a carpenter and a seamstress who struggled to provided for their son as the Spanish Inquisition started creating tension in the country; it was from his mother than Onyx discovered his love of painting and color.
When he grew up and moved out of his parent's house, he subsisted on selling his paintings to nobles and working at a bakery, only leaving the house when he absolutely need to. The scars on his wrists are from two years before his death, when he became obsessed with his paintings and started using his own blood to achieve the "perfect red" and using linseed oil to preserve it. His neighbors got suspicious when they saw this, and rumors began to spread that he was possessed/cursed by the devil and that he used witchcraft (he also used to have several cats).
He was brought before the Inquisition on the charge of heresy, where he openly confessed his habit of "blood-painting" and recanted of his "sins", and so he was pardoned by the church. This was pointless, of course, because Onyx went right back to it in secret. This lasted for another year before he was found out and reported, and this time he was brought before the church and executed as a heretic by beheading.
He remained in the earth for several hundred years, and was brought back to an "undead" status by a mage called Ethan who had heard his restless spirit crying out for mercy. It was the same mage who crafted and installed the locking plates on Onyx's throat and shoulders, to keep his inconveniently separated head tightly in place. (Onyx CAN unlock and remove the head at will.)
He currently resides in Nightshade (a town that only appears after dark) and shares a two-story house with his nobleman companion, Alabaster.
