Oh my. Well this is going to be good. But I will say this. I get what Paul was trying to do and that's sweet. However it was an immensely stupid decision to quite in the middle of a huge case! That act in itself is career suicide.
But we can't blame him for Gem's break down as well how the heck was he to know how shaken she is? Nervous about a relationship does not usually lead one to think about the kinds of stuff floating around Gem's head. So he couldn't have known his quitting would be the one more stress that pushed things over the edge.

oh dear, I hope Gem isn't being sent to an asylum over this breakdown. I could imagine what she could have saw in the courtroom that made her flip her lid. Perhaps seeing her dad as the accused? Zee-zee or Rasile in the audience, a jury box full of Grubs, Grub as the judge?
Betting all my cookies on that it was one of her family members she's prosecuting in this case, most likely her dad or his twin. That definitely would have been a real shock especially if he recognized her too.
Hopefully, that outburst won't have too damaging of an effect on her life as a whole. Legal career is probably in a bit of trouble here ^_^;

Hmm, I guess. My mind was just rushing around for an idea of what the heck possibly freaked her out and just stopped on that. Now that I think of it a bit more it does seem a smidge unlikely...eh *shrugs* Could definitely be her imagination running wild like you said.
Thinking about it though, I think I may have an idea of who was on trial, and who they might have killed. If my guess is correct, then I think I know why Gemma acted out the way she did in the courtroom. These are only theories though. I won't be certain until I find out who was on trial. Until I see their face, or until Gemma explains (which I'm sure she will at some point. Possibly to Paul).
Hmm. Ok, so this morning Gemma has been seemingly hallucinating things from her past. Jack, her father and Grub all in a matter of moments. Now lets add the sudden departure of Paul. Its likely that she may have actually imagined the man who is being charged with murder as her father. Another thing to point out is the fact that they have likely met and our seen the perp previously. Also his entering her dreams in the lastest one, and even before that when she dreamed of herself growing younger in the court room suggests that he may be dead. At the same time though there is some evidence that he is alive, one being you can see him in the crowd of page 30 and even the dream I mentioned before where she slowly becomes a baby in the middle of the court room. This, I think is what happened before she was sent to foster care. She was the only witness to what her father did but because of her age her testimony was ruled out. If this is true then her father is likely still alive. Going with this line of thought she could have come across Jack or one of her siblings in the court room either as the person being tried for murder, a witness or jury. Either way i am REALLY interested in seeing what set her off. I am 50/50 on either of the ideas I put out. But lets wait and see x3
Well, as I mentioned back at pg. 258, hallucinations and "dreaming while awake" are some of Prazosin's (admittedly rarer) side effects. I would imagine that this combined with the stress of everything Gem's had to deal with up until this point would make a potent recipe for a complete breakdown.
