First and foremost, Yes, Wilbur's a she despite the name (hence the 'Willa' to help clarify things). See, Wilbur was raised by a big ol' Pelipper seaman named Orville Gallagher, who found the young Wingull trapped in his fishing net once upon a time with with no recollection of her past life. Not being one for naming kids, he just named her after his grandad instead. She didn't mind it, though eventually the nickname "Willa" was developed to avoid confusion.

Living with Orville Willa grew up to develop a love for riding on his seaplane and seeing the world, but Orville knew she couldn't well develop an education while traveling with him. As luck would have it, Orville was actually a retired businessman who looked to fishing as a pastime, who had developed a bit of a fortune from stocks. He ended up putting her in his old Alma mater, where she'd hopefully train to, as he once put it, "develop the strength to fly on her own wings".

So far, Willa has done well for herself, having managed to survive up to Junior year so far. Being so fond of the sky and seas she calls home, she primarily uses moves that help her call to them for aid, Such as Air Slash and Brine. She's rather frail as a melee combatant, but she makes up for it with determination and heart. Se just recently joined a new team after their fourth was forced to transfer to another school due to family issues. Time will tell if that "ocean spirit" (one of her favorite phrases picked up from Orville" will help her do well as a team player.
