It doesn't really though. It's used that way colloquially, but it doesn't actually draw any real distinction between the two. Kitsune = fox. Fox = kitsune. What people tend to regard as a "kitsune" is actually just, lore-wise, an older fox. This is largely due to the fact that western mythological creatures tend to have no living, real-world counterparts, whereas the kitsune is an extension of an actual animal, and that concept didn't translate back well.
The "demon" epithet likely also stems from mistranslations, as again, the original language/culture allows for far more variation of spirit types than English-speaking nations, which typically limit spirit-type entities to "angels" or "demons" without much allowance for any shades of grey within. This of course in turn stems from the predominant religions of the regions which commonly speak English. Of course I'm not saying anything one way or the other about religion itself, merely that it does have significant cultural impacts and in turn affects linguistic development.

Eh. I don't mind it, considering you can only do so much art/commission so much. And some things are bound to be quicker to progress. Shame though it wasn't tender and slow and lengthy as initially perceived. Very lovely and engaging still, but it took four pages to see just the littlest patches of fur growing through. Now I'd say they're 40%/50% done. xD
And no I'm not going to do that, but this sort of comment is why I rarely respond to them. X) ftr I've limiting the number of pictures here to "only" six because I don't want to bogart aggro's time. There are other folks who want to commission him. I focused on the pre-TF part of the sequence because I felt like that would be more fun and you rarely see the lead-up to things. Regardless, at some point you have to decide on a stopping point. Like ice cream there is rarely "enough."
My complaint department probably *should* be a paypal donation link, tho.
