This unique and spooky 'bone cage lantern' is a black metal spider-patterned cage with a very eerie scene nestled inside it: on a bed of dried moss and flowers (all real and dry-preserved) is an intact, undamaged raccoon skull, several small weasel bones and a whole articulated skeleton raccoon paw! The bones are accompanied by a blackened manzanita 'tree' and a few small stones along with various mosses in different shades of green and brown - all offset nicely by the dried yellow wildflowers and the stark white and black of the 'inkblot' stained bones.

The skull, plants, bones, tree and stones are fixed in place and cannot be removed from the cage.

Under the lid of the cage is a small artificial tea candle that provides a gentle yellow light that casts a creepy glow over the bones when turned on. The candle's light flickers and shifts like real candlelight. The little candle is velcro'd in place so you can easily switch out the watch battery as needed (the cage's top flips right open and latches shut with a simple ornate lock) The cage has a strong metal ring on top that you can use to hang or carry it. Everything in the cage is secured in place so feel free to let it swing as you carry it while in costume - I specifically designed this to tolerate motion.

The overall effect looks like something the grim reaper might carry as a lantern to help light his way through the winds between words...

This will make an outstanding accessory for you to carry as a lantern with your own costume, or as any tabletop piece for a haunted house! Or even just to 'spook up' your own home a little for the holiday - try hanging it outside your door to give small candy seekers a chill. :) It can serve very well as year-round shelf decor for someone of unique tastes, too.

The raccoon is naturally deceased and was processed/cleaned by me using environment safe methods. The skull has all teeth and is absolutely perfect; the jaw is cemented in an open position. *I will include an extra electric tea candle in case the first one burns out just before Halloween and you don't have time to get a new watch battery - you'll have to tuck it beside the skull inside the cage rather than have it glowing down from above, but hey!
