A wee about the building
ixbalam emailed the Ducky a piccie of a once-gorgeous building that is located in Orange County, Upstate New York. But unfortunately, the building has been abandoned for well lots and lots of years, and finally when the State of New York acquired the land, I imagine that they tore the building down now. Tis a shame, because the archetecture in this building was absoultey gorgeous and workmanship that ya just don't see today. The building had a collasped roof which allowed the rest of the structure to rapidly detoriate beyond repair.
According to
ixbalam and as far as he knows, it's the Kuykendall Lodge that was probably used for a summer residence for the prominate Kuykendall family that has or had a large presence in Orange County since the American Revolutionary War. As with most families in Upstate New York, they originated from Holland, which is probably what influenced the archetecture of this building. But I can see that the building although gorgeous...tis probably wasn't practical to heat in the Winter because the top floors go over the front porch.
Thanks to
ixbalam for the piccie of this buidling and to me mate
alu for her continued encouragement and support for the Ducky
