In my head canon, Vitani leaves Simba's Pride after a season, due to boredom, hunting was too easy and she found the lionesses boring. She travels for a few months, on her travels, she slips and falls, while walking along a high ridge. When she wakes up, she notices a big, yellow male lion looking at her, with two cubs. They look absolutely shocked and she can't figure out why, until a familiar lioness steps forward. It was her mother! Zira had survived and after climbing out of the river, she had no idea where she was, so walked and walked, until she came across the same yellow Lion. He took her in and made her feel welcome, so she decided to stay, as did Vitani. Vitani soon found a mate and had a cub, called Hera!
I should mention, the cubs are not Ziras! They just happened to be there.

Zira and Vitani's relationship is turbulent at first, Vitani found it hard to forgive her mother for threatening to kill her and Zira found it hard to forgive Vitani for betraying her when she needed her. Eventually they both learned to live in the happy atmosphere and the Ridgelands gave Vitani a new challenge when it came to hunting.
She made friends with Blyth and found Naaro as a mate.

A little more on the pride who found them!
They are the Ridgeland Pride and are quite a ways from the Pridelands.
Diino is the yellow lion, he's friendly and a very good king. He tries to make everyone feel welcome, but will take no nonsense from those who wish to disrupt what his pride have.
Nayla, the brighter cub and Syra the darker cub are both very adventurous and love making trouble!
