No, I didn't really write out that list and roll a d20 to decide which one to draw. I thought about it, but actually made the decision that this would be the funniest thing to draw myself attempting of all the things on the list.

Yeah. My most successful result so far (in 2011) was the top search result for "Full Tour" for a while. I also made levels for both Make A Good Level X contests (making a level in Super Mario Bros. X which will then be Let's Played by raocow); I made it into the "first" world of both contests, but there's technically a garbage world before World 1 in both so I was far from a loser both times.
I've been playing with the OHRRPGCE for over a decade at this point and I used to play with ZZT and the PS1 RPG Maker as a kid when I could. My gallery actually contains sprites and screenshots of games I've worked on.

I got 2nd place out of two entries in one game contest, 3rd out of four entries in another (the one where I had some modicum of success and made the best game I've ever made), 253rd out of 273 entries in another, and so on. I tend to place "Not Worst", but never quite "Good".
I see. Well, there's a difference between being great and being bad i guess! Personally i also tried with gamemaker once. I got quite far, with about 200 frame of animation for the main chaarter, a full physics engine and a few boss, but schools forced me to leave it for awhile...when i finally came back to it many years later, my version of gamemaker wasn't working anymore and the newer version wasn't compatible with my project...it was quite a bummer! I should try again one day.
Game Maker was one I used to try too. It was pretty versatile, but that same versatility made it difficult to make anything with. I could do simple overhead beat-em-up/maze games but could never get camera scrolling or platforming to work the way I wanted it to.
