Another odd fact: Cats never purr when they're alone. The purr is always used to communicate to humans, other cats and sometimes even other animals like horses or a gentle dog the cat may be friends with. Whether the cat is feeling fine or not, the purr seems to communicate, "I'm glad to see you -- I'm glad you're here with me."
