This photo brings back so many memories for me. We had just gotten back from a show where we'd won 1st place, and I was like "fuck it, we're already tacked up, let's go for a trail ride!" My beautiful Firefly was 23 in this image, still going quite strong! The reason why this is a rare photo? Because below you will get to see who her lineage was ^^

Firefly was also imported from Kentucky on Feb 11, 1991. She was born in Bedford Kentucky on June 1, 1990. She later died in Keene Ontario Canada at the age of 24, after being struck by a tree during a storm and was humanely put to sleep.
Fly was built like a tank, and was what some considered, old foundation stock, however, due to the Impressive in her bloodline, I had, had no plans of ever breeding her, as foals from this line, were often born with severe health issues, from being born dead, to later having muscle spasms that later, became fatal. However, because she was sold without my permission, the new owners didn't have her pedigree, and had no knowledge of her bloodline, and thus bred her. Sadly, the foal after being emergency c-sectioned from his deceased dam, was later put to sleep due to hind end issues.
Firefly was not only my riding companion, she was my best friend. We clicked and from day 1, she loved being near me. If she saw me outside, she would neigh till I went to her. She loved being ridden and loved more so, the small town shows. On one such ride into the nearby town's Tim Horton's she scared staff by putting her head right through the take out window and stealing a guy behind us's doughnut (I paid for him to get another while he bought my horse another plain doughnut xD). She was also the boss of her herd. None challenged her when new round bales were brought into the field, but she knew enough to wait till the baling sheet and twine was removed before chowing down.
After she died, I vowed never to buy another horse as it hurt so much, having to put her down myself. But now, I'm looking, because in my heart, I feel that it's time. Even if I just lease someone else's horse, I'll be happy to be back in the saddle which is where I belong.
However, I miss my girl. I wish we could of had more time together after I'd finally tracked her down. But it is what it is.
