I dunno man, Japanese stuff ain't bad, but Chinese pastries give 'em a run for their money. You ever had moon cakes with semi-sweet red mung bean paste? Pretty darn good stuff, and VERY filling.

I haven't but I am obsessed with sweet red bean paste so anything it's in I'm sure I'd love~

Chinese pastries are quite good! They're often not exceptionally sweet so it can be a bit surprising for us Americans who are used to very saccharine sweets and desserts.

Any excuse to eat real, legitimate Chinese food is valid, however.

I agree, I loathe americanized Chinese food so anything authentic I'm all ears heh.

Well yeah it really is Chinese in name only. I love all the different provincial cuisines though: Taiwanese food is really good with all the dumplings so it's comfort food. Sichuan food is also delicious, if you can handle the spice.

I also was privileged in the distant past to try some Uighur-style food (i.e. from the far Northwest of China): ground lamb with super delicious egg noodles.
