2001 is even more confusing. I have the dvd, and I still don't get it, after several viewings.

I actually really like 2001, even with its bizarre ending. But moreso the long dialog-free shots of... well... awesome space scenery. That's what it was. I really imagine the wonders of space travel to be beautiful and serene like that, and not the fasty/blasty action shots you see in most sci-fi. They don't take their time like 2001 does.

And the way the real silence of space is portrayed is really spooky when HAL starts doing his own thing. Seeing a man flung silently into the depths of space is much more unsettling than hearing a scream, IMO.

So, I guess I can appreciate 2001 on a surface level, even without researching whatever the hell it was that was actually supposed to have happened in the story (although I've done that a bit, so I have a rough idea). A Clockwork Orange... perhaps less so. At least, that's me.

I don't think Eva really "gets" it either, she just like the sex and violence and brain manipulation.

A Clockwork Orange is a confusing movie.
Don't read the book.
It's almost worse.
But.
Damn do I love that movie.
