fm was still kind of experimental, even that recently. i don't think commercial fm broadcasting began until sometime in the 60s. and at first it was like the internet was at first, known almost only to liberal engineering students.

I looked it up. FM started in the late 50's into the 60's

yes the technology of it. i remember it being demonstrated at state fairs in those days. how much better it sounded then am, was at the time amazing. there weren't any high powered commercial stations broadcasting on it yet in my reception area. undoubtedly in some very few areas there might have been. i remember the heathkit fm receiver sometime around 59 or 62. somewhere in there. 62 was when i started high school.

Coolness. I remember my mom's 1965 Ford Fairlane needed an FM receiver to get FM.
