I can see why you feel the way you do about the background. But don't say piss poor. xD It's no where near piss poor lol! All you seem to have to do is smooth it out some more and then you will feel perfection. Seriously this thing is gorgeous and if the water is included in the background feels, do not include it. The water looks amazing and so does the little grass tuft island thing. lol. ~ le friendly critique lol

Absolutely beautiful! As for the BG, you seem to be your own harshest critic, which is fine, that's how you improve as an artist. It's a never-ending quest, if you're good! Any artist can always get better! The water is excellent though, I'd say.
