Thus proving how useless invisibility would be in a society like this. There are just far too many ways to counter it, and if you can be discovered thanks to someone filling the room with what amounts to fog you're likely better off using a different method entirely. Granted, I suppose they'd have to have a reason to suspect you were there, but leaving someone unconscious in the middle of the floor is a pretty big red flag, I'd think. But! That's not meant as a criticism, especially since it's still quite an effective plot twist and the combination of a mysterious lurker and an attack on one of the students certainly does give you quite a jolt against the relative peace of the last several pages. Whatever my personal thoughts on invisibility spells might be, the fact that a hostile figure has infiltrated the facility is quite a worrying prospect in and of itself, as well.
Well, the thing is that they came up upon Isabelle likely seconds after she was knocked unconscious, so the intruder really didn't have time to put her somewhere out of sight, he just wasn't counting on Lauren filling the hall with water droplets. Even though the light is bent around him he can't go intangible...
Though this was originally meant to be a short story, one of the later short stories will actually tap into this event from another POV.

True enough and a fair point. Again, I didn't meant this as a criticism of the story itself or of your use of the powers involved. I guess I just enjoy coming up with ideas for how to foil things like invisibility and let myself get a tad carried away. I imagine that it can be quite useful when properly utilized and, to be honest, I've always kind of liked the idea of being invisible sometimes, myself.
Oh yeah, I know, though this is one of the many times Lauren comes close to meeting Caspian but never really gets a formal introduction... Though no doubt one of the classes one would find in the Academy and the Tower would be Talwyn abilities and their counter agents.
It can be useful, but as pointed out, it's not a catch all. If you walk into a misty locker room, or if the light hits you right....
