Actually the story is your main character moves to a new apartment, and starts having this same recurring nightmare. Then one day you wake up to find your door chained up, the power off, and basically have lost all contact with the outside world. Your only escape is through a hole in the wall that appeared in your bathroom, that takes you to demonic versions of the places you've been before in the city (subway, hospital, etc.)
