A second art-trade story I made for
KananCollie and this one is about his close friend
McFlyhusky, who is a Border Collie who has a bit of a phobia for...Sheep!
In this story all he want to do is to buy some chips, and instead it becomes a battle of life or death! (At least according to his side of the story.)
Dylan belongs to
McFlyhusky
It was a late Summer evening where a certain Border Collie was enjoying his life.
His name was Dylan and he had spend his day designing some new fancy costumes to himself, and then later wear them.
Right now he was dressed in a much more "simpler" purple t-shirt and brown pants, and enjoying bench watching several old Black & White musical with Fred Astaire. (As to get some inspiration for future creations.)
He had been having a nice time in front of the TV with some popcorn and cola as snacks, but now they where both empty and he wanted something else to eat. (Since he still had 3 more movies to watch.)
He felt like having some chips, but when he open the kitchen cabinet he saw that there was nothing!
"That was quite a shame." The Border Collie thought, but then he remembered that he could just buy some from the nearby grocery story.
He lived just outside the country road by his own, and happen to have to a nearby store that was just a 5 minutes walk from his home.
Unfortunately for him just this week there happen to be a big construction work going on, and that left the road closed up for anyone to pass by.
But knowing his surroundings well he knew that there was a wide open field, that if he crossed it he would be able to reach the store on the other side in about 2-3 minutes.
"Easy Pease Shortcut-ease." Dylan said as he climbed over the short fence that was surrounding the field, and made his way.
What had sounded like a good idea at the time, started to feel more and more like something very regretful!
It was so dark without any street lights to give light, and the feelings of being lonely creped Dylan out massively!
"Maybe this wasn't such a bright idea?" He thought to himself when he heard a sound of something moving!
He knew that this field probably was used to let farm animals out to pasture, but he assumed that once night time came they just put them all into barns or something.
Could there still be something out here with him?!
The answer came to him in a "Baaaa."
"SHEEP!" Dylan shouted out loudly!
Something that Dylan never really liked talking about was that he had some very...strange phobias. And Sheep was one of those. (Another one being vacuum cleaners.)
It wasn't something to extreme or anything, but it was a little embarrassing to tell others that he was "Sheep Dog" that was afraid of the sheep.
Had it just been one sheep, on very far away, and not bothering his business's then Dylan would have probably be able to over look it being there.
But this wasn't one sheep. This was (or felt) like almost 100 sheep! They where just about everywhere, and many of them was right now staring at him! (And their eyes where glowing in this pitch black night!)
He could see the glowing signs from the grocery story being just about 1 minute of walking away from him, and he would have made his way for it if it wasn't for a small herd of the sheep was moving across his path and blocking it.
"Really?!" Dylan said to himself, until he saw that he got bigger problems.
A single sheep was making it's way towards him!
When Dylan gets into a stage of panic there isn't much room for logical thinking.
So with that in mind Dylan tossed himself down into some high growing grass, and tried to hide himself from the things he was afraid of!
As he tried his best to stay hidden and not move, he could see that the sheep he was hiding from was only getting closer to him! (Unknown to him the sheep was not looking for him, but rather the tall grass surrounding him.)
Dylan laid still as he saw the mouth of the hungry sheep open up and bite into the grass, only inches from his face. This didn't do anything to help him feel any calmer, as the Border Collie was starting to wonder if he would even be able to survive this.
Because he had been all to focused on one of the many sheep's, he didn't noticed that another sheep had been sneaking up to the other side of the bush, and as that sheep took a bite of the grass it also ended up biting into Dylan's pants!
If Dylan had been overreacting to being near the sheep before then that was nothing compared to now, as he screamed as loud as he could, tossed himself out of the high grass, and then started running like crazy towards the fence!
At several moments he almost ran into many of the sheep and when the fence finally came up he took and even made a small volt as he landed on the concrete street!
He couldn't believe that he had actually done it. He had managed to make it through the entire sheep filled field!
More happy then ever before Dylan walked into the store and bought the chips he had been putting so much effort into getting.
"Finally I can get back home now and finish watching that movie..." Dylan said until he realised something.
Given the construction work blocking traffic from coming either way that meant that he had enter the sheep filled field a SECOND time if he wanted to go home!
"Oh, crap!" Dylan thought, and felt how this would be a looooooooooong night.
