I probably should have made something like this ages ago to outline the species, but hey, 5 years late isn't bad right B')
Longthings are a CLOSED species.
They are long, flexible, noodly things. No lore!
They're super flexible design wise, and can/have spanned many colors and patterns from realistic to ornate.
The mane grows along their spine and stops around the tailbone, flowing freely from there.
Their first metacarpal is always accented (nail color can be the same or different).
They have 4 padded toes with claws. Pads are usually the same color as their metacarpal accent.
Rare & Special traits are by special permission/auction only. The very few Longthings OK'd from 2010-2013 (1 or 2 for horns, and 1 instance of a No trait) are grandfathered in. I am not granting permissions to any other older designs at this time, please do not ask.
*Edited to add that the Longthings with horns by boopeep are A-OK as well, as I gave permission for those be designed with them!
That's about it! They're not very fussy overall, and I'm happy to see that they're still so loved even after all these years. ♥

Nope! That one doesn't have real wings, they're a strapped on costume piece (similar to the Longthing with a bunny-ear headband) - that was a case of going for an accessory since real wings weren't allowed. There's 1 Longthing out there with tuft like ears that I gave permission for in 2011.
If you dig past their thick wall of fluff, you'll find a wee humanoid ear!

They're very small compared to a normal human ear, with only a small pinna on the top which thins out to nearly no lobe on the bottom. They also lay very close to the skull, so they don't stick out much and are easily buried under their thick manes.

length is pretty much up to the owner, but my personal headcanon is that they're generally pretty large! Not so much due to bulk, but just the fact that their body and limbs are so long.
